How we picked

We reviewed 18 Malaysian supplement makers and kept those with their own plant and products listed under other brands in JAKIM's directory. We then ordered them by how openly they publish certificates, how many outside brands they make for, published minimum orders and halal help, the number of formats, and Google reviews. Our method

Left out on purpose

  • Hovid Berhad: In 2017 a product was recalled for mislabelling and the Health Ministry revoked both its manufacturing licences after an NPRA audit. The Chemor licence was restored in March 2017.
  • Furley Bioextracts: Received a US FDA warning letter over manufacturing practice in September 2021, followed by an FDA import alert.
  • UNO Nutrition: Makes products in partner facilities. We found no plant of its own.
  • NaViBiotech: Coordinates projects. Its products are made at other factories, one of them in China.
  • HAX OEM: Publishes no company name or factory address.
  • Pharmaniaga and Duopharma: Contract makers of medicines, not a fit for a first supplement brand.
